Shirley Rice

SHIRLEY RICE (nee Prince), age 87. Beloved wife of the late Bill. Loving mother of Patrick (Debbie Thoms), Linda Pastor (Dave), Lisa Medas (Kevin), Lori Couzens (Dave) and the late Bill. Cherished grandmother of Heather Rice (Steve Lilley), Ryan Medas (Erika), Erin Hanna (AJ), Matthew Pastor (Abby), Alyssa Pastor (Garrett); great grandmother of Estelle, Finn and Logan. Shirley was born in 1935 in Cleveland to Joseph and Margaret (nee Kimble) Prince. They moved to Florida when Shirley was a young child, where she was known as a talented classical pianist throughout her early teens, performing regularly. She returned to Cleveland where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Bill, in 1955. Together they moved to Virginia Beach as Bill completed his Navy service, then returned to Cleveland. She was a voracious reader, usually fiction, and loved to travel. She and Bill saw much of the US, and also traveled as far as Tahiti, Australia and Italy. She was a lifelong dog lover, caring for many beloved pets over her lifetime. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Foundation Fighting Blindness. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday February 14, 2023 Mary Queen of Apostles Parish, 6455 Engle Road at 9:30 AM. (EVERYONE MEET AT CHURCH). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends MONDAY 5 – 7 PM at the A. RIPEPI & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS (WEST OF I-71).
