James Bowman Harrison, age 92, of Beavercreek, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. He was born September 3, 1932 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, at the home of his parents, James Preston Harrison and Easter Isabell (Pigg) Harrison.
He was the youngest of a large loving family of seven siblings, and known to them as JB. He served his country honorably as a radar operator in the Air Force. He moved to Ohio after his time in the “Service”. This is where he met the love of his life, Joyce Ingram. They married on September 15, 1964. They made their home in Franklin, Ohio in the community of Hunter. This is where they built their dream home and raised two daughters. He was employed at Diamond International and Converters Gravure both in Middletown, Ohio. He worked as a photo and engraving finisher where he was very proud and meticulous about his work and taught his daughters a wonderful work ethic. He loved caring for his large yard and garden in his leisure time. He always kept his mind busy with reading and always enjoyed the comics, or “the funnies” in the daily newspaper. Being from Kentucky, he was passionate about UK basketball and proudly wore his UK hat. He lost his wife, Joyce in 1990 and mourned her for the rest of his life. His grandchildren were the light of his life and his gentle smile was radiant whenever he was with them. He retired early to spend more time with his grand babies. He loved visiting them, arriving with his large bag of candy and toys from the Dollar Store.
Jim is preceded in death by the love of his life, Joyce Ann, his parents and all of his siblings. He is survived and mourned by his daughters, Janet Harrison (Robert Philhower) of Kettering, Julie Couch (Tracy) of Carlisle. He also is mourned by his beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Autio, Christian Autio, Rachel Autio (fiancée Evan Bayles) and Danielle Couch. He also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews who will miss their Uncle JB. His nephew, Pastor David Douglas will preside over his Life Celebration Service. He truly was a life well lived with gentleness, humility and abundant love. Rest now in Heaven with Mom.
Visitation will be 12-1 pm on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Funeral Service will follow at 1pm with Pastor David Douglas officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.
