In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Phillip "Buddy" Childers, Michael Childers and brother-in-law, Andrew Stafford.
Joey is survived by his siblings, Carolyn (Harold) Parker, Sandra (Barry) Paugh, Linda Stafford, Donna (John) Pence, James Childers; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
