

Josephine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, painting, drawing, etching, shopping, sewing, crafts, swimming, tea parties, boating and biking.
Josephine was a devoted Christian. She took pride in her work with Children’s Church, writing a Children’s book; working with Missions, Motorcycle Ministry, singing in the choir and playing the guitar, harp and piano. Throughout her life she wrote several prayer letters that made it around the world.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ray Vitale; sister-in-laws Clara Vitale and Brenda Vitale.
Josephine is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Hammock; brothers, Joe Vitale, Nick (LuAnne Terry) Vitale; son, John Lewis; daughter, Dawn (Daniel) Eggenberg; grandchildren, Christopher Hyde, Charles (Kaitlynn) Weckherlin, James (Cheyenne) Weckherlin; Maria (Arthur Jurgenson) Weckherlin, Brandon Eggenberg; great grandchildren, Scarlett Weckherlin, Eva Jurgenson and Colton Weckherlin.
Visitation will be 12:00 pm- 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Morris officiating.
