Steven Lawrence Eidson, age 66 of Middletown, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 6, 2020. He was born June 23, 1953 in Middletown, Ohio. Steve was an incredibly talented musician. He played the keyboards and sang vocals in numerous bands in the Pasadena, California area. He was best known for his ability to play the Hammond B3 in bands such as Biggie Rat and Live Jive just to name a few. Steve later worked with some notable musicians like Bobby Caldwell and played in Church bands for many years, such as Calvary Chapel of Laguna Beach. He also engaged in many volunteer projects over the years, for example, he assisted in building a sewer system at an orphanage in Mexico. Steve followed in his father’s footsteps and ran a successful HVAC business until the late 1990’s when he suffered a severe spinal cord injury. After that, he retired and was very limited in his ability to play the keyboard. He was determined to play music though, so he picked up the guitar and was able to adapt and continue playing music, which was his passion. He continued playing with his local church and performed weekly gigs at various nursing homes including his mother’s place of residence. He was an inspiration to many, a giver of bear hugs, a funny guy with a big smile and a great laugh. He was quick to offer a "Howdy" and some scripture to those in need. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Jean (Childers) Schenck of Middletown; his high school sweetheart, Kim Burwell and their four children, Shelby Eidson, Bethany Eidson, Gretchen Eidson and Greg Eidson; one grandson, Tyler Eidson all of California. Two sisters, Lisa Bunch and Tracey Eidson Bunch and a brother Bobby Schenck. He is preceded in death by his father, James Eidson; sister, Kathryn Eidson; brother-in-law Curt Bunch and stepfather Bob Schenck.
The family will have a musical celebration of Steve’s life at a date and time to be determined.
