Susan E. Blaine

Susan was raised in Middletown. She graduated from Middletown High School, attended Bowling Green State University and then transferred to The Ohio State University. She returned to Middletown from OSU with David Blaine in tow. Susan worked several jobs, often 2 at a time, in her early adult life. She most fondly recalled her days at McGee’s Supermarket and working for local dentists Dr. Meece and Dr. Kuntz. She had ties to this office and their staff decades after she left.

In 1963, Susan and David married and made their home in Middletown. They had two daughters and settled in at the First Presbyterian Church on Central Avenue. Susan was predominantly a homemaker for the majority of the 70’s and 80’s. She then began working part time at Lewis Drug Store and filled in when she was needed in several different business venues. She was never one to say no if she thought she could help out. Card games were a staple of the Blaine household entertainment, often including family and friends in the festivities. Susan was always up for a good card game or small get togethers. She was often known to travel to her daughters’ homes for a good game. Never a stranger to hard work or helping someone, her family cannot recall her denying anyone money, a meal, a ride, or a place to stay. She leaves behind an amazing legacy of love, her family is extremely proud of.

Susan is survived by her children, Jane (Darren) Goude and Julie (Michael) England; five grandchildren, Hannah (Patrick) Brunson, Lauren Goude, Abigail Goude, Jacob Blaine Goude and Mariah England (Andy Caron); one great grandchild, Lucy Jane Brunson. Susan has a host of loving extended family, in-laws and beautiful friends who will cherish her memory.

Visitation will be 11:00am – 1200pm on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Breitenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin Street, Middletown, OH 45044. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00pm.
