AnnElise McCoy, 73, of Midland, Texas passed away on December 15, 2011 under Hospice care. She was born in Ashdown, Arkansas on January 22, 1938 to Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Cook. AnnElise married her high school sweetheart, Charlie, a union that lasted 55 years. She was an accomplished portrait artist focusing on children with a unique ability to capture those expressions parents loved so dearly. She once said, “I really never painted anyone I didn’t enjoy painting but there is just something about little children. I love to paint portraits and I am so thankful that this is my calling. Portraits of children are cherished by the parents. They treat them special. That is so rewarding.” She continually strived to improve her talent by studying Art at Louisiana Tech and SMU as well as studying under some of the great portrait artists of our time, such as Dmitri Vail and watercolorist, Warren Taylor. AnnElise was past President of the Midland Art Association, Signature member of the National Water Color Society, Texas Water Color Society, and Midland Pallet Club. She participated annually in Midland’s Septemberfest and the Midland Celebration of the Arts where she received the Distinguished Artist award in 2010. Over the course of her artistic career she received many honors for her beautiful works and her talent. Her paintings and portraits grace the walls of homes and businesses all over the world. AnnElise was a loving wife, a wonderful caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her smile was infectious and her laugh contagious. She is loved dearly by all who have known her, and she will be missed tremendously. Left behind to cherish and honor her memory are her husband of 55 years, Charlie McCoy; daughter, Melanie Lancaster and husband, Mark of Midland, Texas; son, David McCoy and wife Lynn of Tyler, Texas; grandchildren: Michelle Matijevich; Elise Rees and husband, Nathan; Gage McCoy and wife, Jerrica; Denise Lancaster Schiller and husband, Kurt; and Melissa Lancaster- Guest and husband, James; and great-grandchildren: Charley, Davin, Mac, and Jasper.
