Brigitte May Hayes

Brigitte was born on January 30, 1961, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to James and Brigitte Rich. Her family moved to Texas shortly after and she attended High School in El Paso, TX, and then served her country in the United States Air Force for 9 years Active Duty, and 13 years in the Texas Air Force National Guard. She enlisted at only 17 years old.

In 2004, she met David Hayes, and they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 24, 2004. Brigitte and David were not only a team in life, but in business as well. She did work in Medical Billing and would ride along with David as he drove an 18-Wheeler all over the United States. She fell in love with seeing the country and left her job in Medical Billing and learned to drive the truck herself. David and Brigitte drove as a team for over 2 million miles coast to coast. She had a sense of humor and loved a nice bonfire or to go to the gun range. Brigitte also loved to cook and feed friends and family. She also loved Fishing and being with family and her dogs (Sasha, Libby, Sammy Sue, Sierra Sue, and Chelsie May).

She is preceded in death by her father, James Robert Rich; and uncle, John Wiggleton. Her mother, Brigitte Rich, passed away the day after she did.

Brigitte is survived by her husband, David Hayes, of Greenwood, TX; her mother Brigitte Rich, of Buchanon, TX; sons, Michael Hayes and wife Angie, of Pipe Creek, TX, and Wayne Hayes, and wife Jami, of Stanton, TX; siblings, James Rich, and wife Cathy of Jackson, TN, Debra Rich in Massachusetts, and Tina Rich and husband Michael of Tennessee; as well as 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 26, 2026, in the Chapel at Ellis-Resthaven Funeral Home, 4616 N. Big Spring Street, Midland, TX 79705.
