Donald Paul Liscum

Don was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and moved to Texas as a young child. He always considered Midland his home, even purchasing and living the rest of his days in his childhood home.

After graduating from Midland High School, Don went on to attend Concordia College, Texas Lutheran College and Wartburg Seminary. After time in vicarage in Michigan, Don pastored a Lutheran church in Pasadena, Texas. He later returned to Midland and spent many years as a successful CPA and real estate investor.

Don was passionate about life. He loved the Lord, his family and friends, duck hunting and fishing, traveling the United States, and a good cup of coffee and French toast at Denny’s.

He was patriotic, adventurous, intelligent, and always chose to see the best in people. He believed every day was a gift from the Lord and was grateful for the full and wonderful life God had given him in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Don will lovingly be remembered as an amazing father, brother and uncle, a loyal friend, and for his quirky sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

Don is preceded in death by his father, La Don Liscum, his mother, Anne Liscum, and his brother, Van Liscum. His survivors include his sisters Gerry Howard of Victoria and Becky Rosson of Van. Don is also survived by his children, Tina Dawson of Cedar Park, Melissa Butterfras of Houston, David Liscum of Lubbock, and Shellie Hudgins of Tampa, Florida. His grandchildren are Elizabeth, Kaity, Ashton, Emily, Trevor, A.J., Addie, Ryan, Sophie and Colin, and many nieces and nephews.

A family visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, at Grace Lutheran Church, with internment following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
