

Edith Naomi Jackson, 87, went to be home with our Lord on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Naomi, who had a lengthy journey living with Alzheimer’s, is now bathed in God’s glory, once again knowing all those she loved and those who loved her.
Naomi was born February 21, 1925 in Van Zandt County to Jesse and Annie Lee Cates. She was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1942.
Naomi married Felix Randell Jackson May 16, 1953. Randell’s job carried them to Midland, Henderson, Tyler, Abilene and back again to Midland. While in Abilene, Naomi worked at Cooper High School for 13 years, first as the Attendance Clerk and left as the Assistant Registrar. When Randell’s job transferred them back to Midland, Naomi began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone and worked until her retirement in June 1992. In 2005 Naomi moved to Abilene to be closer to her daughter. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church, Midland, Texas.
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her son, Bruce Jackson of Van Horn, Texas and daughter, Pam McComas and husband, Ken, of Abilene Texas; grandchildren, Wesley Jackson and wife, Brandye, Thad Jackson, Clay Jackson and wife Chasen; step-grandchildren, Jim McComas and wife, Mary Elizabeth and Josh McComas.; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Camden and Caddison Jackson; step great-grandchildren, Kendall, Kathryn, Cooper and Arden McComas and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the very special care given to Naomi by her caregiver, Eva Retana.
Graveside service will be Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 9am at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas, with her grandson, Wesley Jackson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home of Midland. Condolences may be made at: www.ellisfunerals.com.
