Frank finished his journey on this Earth, August 31, 2012. He had battled cancer for over eight years never wanting to give up the fight. He grew up in Jal, New Mexico and attended New Mexico State University on an API scholarship majoring in Mechanical Engineering. While there he met Jean, his wife of forty-five years. Upon completion of college they moved to Midland where he worked for Texaco for thirty years before retiring. Together they had two children, Johnny of McKinney, Texas and Jennifer Richardson of Midland. Frank’s love of life reflected in all that he did, whether it was his job or being in the great outdoors. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and gardener who loved working with his hands creating woodwork cabinets and birdhouses. Most of all his love of doing for others consumed his journey. He volunteered for Sibley Nature Center and Community Senior Service (Texas Size Garage Sale). He enjoyed every moment being around his friends and family. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Nell Gray. He leaves behind, only for them to finish their journey, his wife, Jean; son, Johnny and his daughter, Kaitlyn; daughter, Jennifer and husband Dave and their children Shelby and Brock; sister, Cathy Gray of Caddo, Texas; and brother, Greg Gray of Alto, New Mexico. Extended family consists of all the hard working volunteers at CSS whose desire to help others was a great inspiration to Frank. His hunting buddies and golfing rabbits. The family has donated Frank’s body and organs to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine for research so he can continue to help others even after his passing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Midland, CSS, or Sibley Nature Center. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com.
