

Gilbert “Gil” E. Miller, 88, of Midland, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Gil was born in Hutchinson, KS on October 25, 1923. He served as PFC of the 120th Infantry in the U.S. Army, during WWII, from November 1940 to September 1945. Gil was proud to have served his country and earned many medals including the Purple Heart. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, going to the senior dances, and serving on several committees for the First Baptist James department.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his first wife, June Butler Miller on December 1, 1999. They were wed on July 28, 1944.
Gil is survived by his wife, Freda Truelove Prince Miller. They were wed on May 5, 2000. He is also survived by his son, Jonnie Miller and wife, Linda of Andrews, TX; daughter, Terrye Risenhoover and husband, Mark of Andrews, TX; step-sons, Mike Prince and wife, Pam, and Randy Prince and wife, Cherl all of Midland, TX; niece, Jackie Webb of Atlanta, GA; niece, Lou Anne Conder of Lubbock, TX; and special to his heart, he was “stand in” Dad to Melba Kelsey of Euless, TX. Also left to cherish his memory are nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Family will welcome friends at Ellis Funeral Home from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012. A funeral service is planned for 2:00p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Midland. A graveside service will follow the funeral at 4:00p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Andrews County Cemetery North. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home of Midland. Memorial donations may be made in Gil’s name to the First Baptist Church Arise and Build Fund, The Wounded Warriors Fund, or to ones favorite charity.
