On May 6, 2016, Anita June Adams McGaughey was carried to Heaven by God’s angels and gently placed directly into the loving, healing arms of her Heavenly Father. She fought a long and difficult illness with grace, strength and unfailing courage that inspired us all. She will be greeted by Marion (her husband of nearly 65 years), her parents, her son Mike and many other family members and friends who have preceded her. What a glorious reunion that will be!
June was born August 1, 1931 in Brady Texas. She married her beloved husband, Marion on August 23, 1948 in Coleman, TX. June was a devoted, loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Midland and was a powerful, devoted and effective prayer warrior. She truly loved her Lord, family and friends with all her heart. She thanked God daily for them as they blessed her life, just as she blessed the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
June and Marion had two children, Mike & Kathy. During their school years, June was Room Mother, Cub Scout Den Mother and Brownie Scout Leader and taught Children's Sunday School classes. She worked for Sears in San Angelo for 10 years. Her hobbies included beautifully decorating her homes, creating spectacular yards and gardens in every home she and Marion lived in, making ceramics, fishing, working jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and playing games with family and friends.
June loved the Lord and one of her happiest memories of all was the joy she and Marion shared in helping to establish Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo, TX in 1987. With nine other faithful Christians, God grew the church from eleven Charter Members to approximately 1600 members as of May 2016. Marion served as Treasurer and June served on the Building Committee.
In 1987, June and Marion built a beautiful retirement home on Lake Brownwood. In 1994, they moved back to San Angelo for a short time before moving permanently to Midland in 1996 to live in the same town as their daughter Kathy and son-in-law Pat.
The family would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratefulness and gratitude for all of the wonderful doctors, nurses, caregivers, staffs and volunteers who helped so much during this journey.
