

He was born on January 1, 1922 in Greenfield, Dade County Missouri.
WWII Veteran of the United States Navy served as a member of the Armed Guard protecting merchant ships carrying supplies to forward areas in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres.
After military service he worked in construction as a carpenter in Kansas and Colorado. While on one of these jobs he met Barbara Lee (Bobbie) Pinkerton whom he married on November 30 1947 in Fort Dodge KS. After several years of moving between Kansas and Colorado for work Ken and Bobbie finally settled in Pueblo CO. After 20 years as a carpenter and job foreman he retired from construction work to become a rancher and breeder of quarter and appaloosa horses. At one time Ken owned 17 horses which he raised and trained. Even into his 80s Ken was still roping steers, in one year he was the Senior Pro Rodeo Team Roping Champion in Casper, Wyoming.
In 1962 at the Denver National Livestock show Ken had the Grand Champion Palomino mare, Cindy Belle.
Ken and Bobbie travelled all over the western United States showing horses. One wall of their home was covered in ribbons he won by competing in reigning and western pleasure classes as well as team roping. Another wall had a book shelf that was full of trophies earned by competing in those same events.
Ken was a lifetime member of the National Senior Pro Rodeo Assoc as well as a lifetime member of the VFW and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was also a member of the American Legion.
He was a friend to everyone he met. Ben Nighthorse Campbell, Senator from Colorado, rode Ken's favorite horse, Snazzy Man, in the Colorado State Fair Parade. He was also on a first name basis with Colorado
Governor Roy Romer.
For the past year Ken has been a resident of Polo Park Estates and once
again made many new friends.
Ken is predeceased by his wife Bobbie, his parents Leonard Milton and
Alice Marie (Watson) Culver, Brother Ottis, sisters Anna Mae Mckinney, Shirley (Jim) Armstrong and Dorothy Perryman as well as several nieces and nephews.
Survived by daughters Karen (Al) Telck of Midland TX, Renee (Mike) Wood of Colorado Springs, CO, grandsons: Nathan Telck of Dallas TX, Timothy Telck (Summer) of Midland, TX, Peter Telck of Denton, TX and David Wood Houston, TX. Three great granddaughters: Elizabeth, Abigail and Julieanne Telck all of Midland, TX and Brother James Culver of Avondale, CO.
Celebration of life will be on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2:30 PM at Polo Park retirement estates In Midland, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
