Mildred "Millie" L. Atnip Howard

Mildred Louise Atnip Howard died on December 28th, 2010. She was born in Dennison, Texas to Annie Pauline Atnip on April 6th, 1929. She attended Boles Home High School near Quinlin, TX and graduated on May 25th 1947. Also in 1947-48 she attended Abilene Christian College. Mildred’s' mother Annie Pauline Atnip died at age 29 of typhoid. Mildred was the oldest of six children. Her family included J.T. Atnip, deceased & wife Pat of San Antonio, James Atnip, San Antonio, and David Atnip, deceased & wife Ann, Moore, OK, and twin sisters Estelle Atnip Query & husband James Query, deceased; and second husband James Nazzal, deceased of Colorado Springs, CO; and Murvelle Atnip Manis of Manassas, VA. With the death of her mother in 1939, all of these Atnip children except JT & David were sent to live at Boles Orphan Home near Quinlan, TX. Instinctively Mildred became the mother of all her younger brothers & sisters at age 10. Mildred's father remarried after the death of Annie Pauline in 1939 and reared another family of six children. Thus Mildred had another family of siblings younger than her, including Aubrey Lee Atnip; Bobby Atnip; Otis Ferrell Atnip, deceased; Roger Atnip; James Atnip; Louise Atnip Pennington & husband Danny; Joyce Ann Atnip Fernandez. Mildred loved the Lord with all her heart and served not only as a loving mother and wife to her husband for over 56 years and taught Bible class to children for many years. She was a faithful Christian and lived a Godly life all her days to the very best of her ability. Her husband, Royce says that many men seek out “trophy” wives and to him she was that and more. She was beautiful in body, spirit, mind and marriage for many years! Survivors include Daughters Paula McClure, Bobbi Guerra and husband Eli, Jana Howard, Tina Rozelle and husband Ricky, sons Tom Howard and Jeff Howard. Proceeded in death by son Jay Howard. Mildred and Royce were blessed with numerous grand children and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home Thursday, December 30, 2010 between the hours 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 31, 2010 at Golf Course Road Church of Christ with Minister Tim Baugh conducting the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at www.ellisfuneralhome.com.
