Patrick "Tex" J Weitzel Sr.

Patrick “Tex” Weitzel Sr. of Midland, Texas, went home to his Heavenly Father on April 24th, 2025, following a lengthy health battle, at the age of 81 years.

Tex was born in Shiner, Texas in 1943, to his parents Henry C. Weitzel and Ann Marie Bannert. Tex retired from active Navy duty in 1987 after serving in Vietnam as Chief Petty Officer,and he retired from the United States Postal Service in 1993.

Tex married Donna Lynn DeSantis Weitzel in 1973. Together they had one child, Patrick Joseph Weitzel Jr. in 1976.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lynn Weitzel, his parents, Henry and Anne Marie Weitzel, sister Dorthy Mae Cunningham, niece Martha A. Joseph, and a brother Robert James Weitzel.

He is survived by his son Patrick J. Weitzel. Jr, his wife Emily Hamilton Weitzel, his grandchildren Patrick J. Weitzel III, Brock, Emily “Belle”, and Maximus “Max” Weitzel. His sister Delores Joseph, his brother Henry “Hank” Weitzel Jr. and his niece Diana Joseph, his sister-in-law Diana Faulkner, her husband Joe Faulkner, brother–in-law Thomas DeSantis, Jr. sister-in-law Karen DeSantis, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins to carry on his memory.

A visitation will be held at Ellis Funeral Home, 4616 N Big Spring, Midland, TX Sunday May 4,2025, from 4pm to 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 4601 Neely Ave on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 2pm with a Committal and Military Honors at Resthaven Memorial Park to immediately follow.
