Patty Mae Anderson

Patty was born December 4, 1932, to Reeves and Barnie Smith in Brownfield, TX. She graduated from Midland High School and then attended Odessa College. Patty worked as a PBX operator and receptionist for Mobil Oil Company for 36 years until her retirement in 1995. After she retired, Patty enjoyed volunteering her time as a Pink Lady at Midland Memorial Hospital. She also participated in a bowling league with other Mobil retirees. She was a long-time member of Main Street Church of Christ and later became a member of Westside Church of Christ until her passing. Patty had been residing at Cimarron Place Assisted Living since 2019. Patty always had a kind word and a giving heart for everyone she met.

Patty married her husband, Bill N. Anderson, on June 20, 1969. During their marriage, Patty and Bill would enjoy many road trips. They celebrated 35 years of marriage before Bill’s passing in 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister (Christine Waddill), brother (Calvin Smith), and daughter (Gretta Anderson Kirby).

Patty is survived by her son Maurice Story of Dallas, TX; daughter Jan Anderson Hunt (Darryl) of El Paso, TX; sister Dorothy McQuerry of Midland; grandchildren Chad Kirby (Michele) of Apple Valley, CA; Kim Worley (Andrew) of Hagerman, NM; Joshua Cochrane (Rheannon) of Sioux Falls, SD; Jared Cochrane of Denver, CO; as well as 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The children of her sister, Dorothy, were especially close to Patty and of great help to her.

The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the staff of Cimarron Place Assisted Living for their kindness and compassion in the care of Mrs. Anderson. The family also would like to thank her friends, extended family members, and church members for all of the visits, cards, and phone calls. Patty appreciated these more than words can express.
