

He was the last born to Terral and Dossie McCurdy. He was born February 9, 1929 in Amarillo, Texas. He attended the Subiaco Academy and later moved to Stanton, Texas. He met and married the love of his life, Lizzie Mae Hopper, of Stanton on April 3, 1954. Robert served in the U. S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and was discharged as a Corporal. He worked for Mobile Oil for over 40 years and loved his work. He retired in January 1991. He loved being a loving husband, father, papaw, and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved being outdoors, camping, and fishing.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Terral S. McCurdy Sr. and Dossie McCurdy and two brothers, J. Charles McCurdy and Terral (Shorty) McCurdy.
Survivors include his wife, Lizzie Mae McCurdy of Greenwood; three sons, Burk McCurdy of Oklahoma, Rick McCurdy and wife Janice of Oklahoma, Robert “Bud” McCurdy Jr. and wife Toni of Greenwood; and daughter Elizabeth Chandler and husband Andy of Greenwood; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Subiaco Academy, 405 North Subiaco Ave., Subiaco, Arkansas 72865-9798 and to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, December 30, 2011 at 3:00pm at the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel, 801 Andrews Highway, Midland, Texas 79701 with Brother Bob Porterfield officiating.
