Robert DeWitt Rountree

Robert D. Rountree, 83, passed away on October 14, 2013 at the Terrace West Rest Home in Midland, Texas. He was born October 25, 1929 in Midland, Texas to Roberta E. Rountree and Edwin Rountree. He graduated from Midland High School in 1947.Robert served in the Navy for 4 years on the USS Raymond and was honorably discharged. After the Navy, he worked as a draftsman for Shell before entering Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation, he worked as an electrical engineer for the United States government for 26 years until retirement. Robert is a member of the Kelview Heights Baptist Church of Midland.

Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nelda; his son Stephen Joe Rountree of Tucson, AZ; his daughter, Rebecca Anne and her husband Aaron Presley of Midland, TX; his granddaughter, Crystal Turner and her husband Jeff Turner of Midland, TX; his grandson Aaron Presley II of Austin, TX; great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Turner of Midland, TX; great-grandson, Nolan Turner of Midland, TX; and 2 nephews, Kyle Rountree of Lake Charles, LA, and Rex Roundtree of Midland, TX.

Family will welcome friends to a visitation on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Ellis Funeral Home, Midland, TX from 6-8 pm. Services for Robert will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Kelview Heights Baptist Church at 11:00 am. On line condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com.
