Shirley Jo Irwin Muse

Shirley Jo Irwin Muse, 87, of Midland, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 after a lengthy illness. She was born on November 20, 1926 in Muskogee, OK to Thelma Frame Irwin and James Austin Irwin. She graduated from Denison High School in 1943 and also graduated on August 31, 1947 from Nursing School in Fort Worth, TX. She married Kindred Dale Muse of Fort Worth, TX in 1951. After a long career in nursing, she retired from Midland Memorial Hospital in 1992. She also enjoyed a part-time hobby working at Davis Garden Center.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale and her son-in-law Jim Nelson.

Shirley is survived by her four daughters Nancy Muse Rashall of Midland, Judy Muse Nelson of Granite Shoals, Cathy Muse Young of Hurst and husband Craig, and Mary Muse of Houston and fiancé Jeff Gricar. Other survivors include her grandson Walker Nelson and his wife Becky; granddaughters Allison Young and fiancé Jeremy Scott, Lauren Young and husband Tyler; and great-grandchildren Maggie and Ryan Nelson.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Ellis Funeral Home on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.. Graveside services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
