Vicente Villarreal, Sr., 97, beloved father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather of Midland, TX, passed away peacefully at his home in Midland on Friday, May 28, 2021. A rosary will be held Sunday, June 6 at 7:00 P.M. at Ellis Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held June 7 at 10 A.M. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Midland, TX, With Fr. Rodney White officiating. Inurnment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Vicente was born December 4, 1923, in Zaragosa, Coahuila, Mexico to Martiniano and Thomasita Rios Villarreal. He married Leonila Alvarez Villarreal on September 18, 1954, in San Angelo, TX. They were married for 62 years. He worked as a ranch hand for Roy Miller in Ozona, TX until 1960; he then moved to the Midland/Odessa area and worked for Roger Cannon for several years and Matt Faudree for about twenty-five years before retiring in 1986. His lifelong passion was working with cattle and horses. He lived for the roundups and branding of the herd of cattle that took place at the ranch south of Midland located off 1788. Upon retiring he continued to live out in the suburbs of Midland. In his spare time, he was always available to help John Casselman on his ranch.
He is preceded in death by both parents; wife Leonila A. Villarreal, eldest daughter, Ofelia Lowe and his eldest son, Vicente Villarreal, Jr; brothers, Leopoldo, Encarnacion, Valdo, Ramon, Ernesto, Raul and Martin Villarreal; sisters, Dora, Hortencia, Minerva and Carmela. He Is survived by his sons, Harvey Villarreal and with wife Vickie, Joe Villarreal, Danny Villarreal and wife Betty; his daughters Laura Ramos and Husband Julio, Bertha Sanchez and husband David, Angela Flores and husband Jason, all of Midland, TX. Son-in -law Terry Lowe of San Angelo, TX. Daughter-in-law Julie Villarreal of Midland, TX. He is also survived by brother, Guadalupe Villarreal of San Angelo, TX. Sisters; Ofelia Ramirez of San Angelo, TX and Guillermina Hyten of Del Rio, TX, sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to extend our greatest appreciation to the care team with Kindred Hospice and especially Amanda Richardson for her support and guidance of our beloved one in his final hours.
