Vicky Ochoa, 61, of Midland passed away from this life on December 20th surrounded by her family. Vicky was born on January 28, 1964. Today we gather not only in sorrow, but in gratitude — gratitude for the life of a beautiful soul who touched all of us so deeply.
Vicky was a woman of great faith. She loved the Lord with all her heart and trusted Him through every season of her life — even in the storm of her illness. She faced cancer with courage, grace, and an unwavering belief that God was with her every step of the way. Her strength didn’t just come from within — it came from above.
She was an amazing daughter, mother, sister, Tia Bick, mother-in law and Gigi — roles she carried with love and devotion. Her family was her joy, her purpose, and her greatest blessing. She gave so much of herself to each of us — through her love, her laughter, her wisdom, and her gentle spirit.
She had a heart of gold and a soul that reflected Christ’s love. Always giving, always serving, always shining light wherever she went. Even when she was tired or hurting, she still found ways to encourage others. That’s who she was — a vessel of God’s love.
She loved taking photos — capturing the beauty in life, the smiles, the small moments that mattered most. Maybe that was her gift to us — reminding us to hold on to life’s blessings, to see God’s fingerprints in every ordinary moment.
Though our hearts ache today, we know this is not goodbye — it’s “see you later.” Because her faith promised her an eternal home where there is no more pain, no more suffering, only joy in the presence of her Savior.
She has finished her race, she has kept the faith, and she now rests in the loving arms of Jesus. And even though she is no longer with us in body, her love and light will continue to shine — in her daughter, Brianna, her precious grandson Carter, and in every heart she touched. May we honor her by living with the same faith, love, and grace she showed us all.
She is survived by her daughter, Brianna Gafford, son-in-law, Christian Gafford; her grandson, Carter Gafford; her parents, Oscar Ochoa, Sr. and Carmen Ochoa; her brothers, Oscar Ochoa Jr. and his wife, Marianne Ochoa, and Eric Ochoa and his wife, Sylvia Ochoa; her niece, Olivia Ochoa; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
