Willie Grace Rankin

Willie Grace was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on January 15, 1927. She graduated from Colorado City High School in Texas. Willie Grace was married to Freddy Ray Rankin on March 31, 1945 and they were married for over forty-nine years.

Willie Grace was a telephone operator in Fort Worth for a short time after graduating from high school, later she worked in the grocery business. Then in 1969 she went to work at Commercial Bank, after Texas American Bank took over the company, she worked there until 1986. Willie Grace became an officer with a title of Assistant Vice President, and she received Employee of The Year Award during that time.

She enjoyed cleaning her house, redecorating, and rearranging. Willie Grace was a very generous person, she loved people. She would write lots of cards and made many phone calls to sick people. She was a member of North A Church of Christ and a previous member of Greenwood Church of Christ, in which she was active. She also enjoyed attending past school and past employment reunions, as well as visiting with all those people and keeping up with their lives. After all these years she still read the newspaper from Colorado City.

Willie Grace is preceded in death her parents, Boyd and Mary Vardy; husband, Freddy Ray Rankin in June of 1994; three brothers; one sister; and one great grandson.

She is survived by four children, Donna Raff and husband Eddie of Midland, Texas, John Rankin and wife Sandra of Colorado City, Texas, Kay Harvick and husband Bill of Cheyenne, Wyoming, David Rankin and wife Debbie of Havana, Florida; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; eight great great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Colorado City Cemetery, 1901 W. I-20 Business Colorado City, TX 79512
