

Anne Bailey Gadberry, of Richmond, died on September 1, 2011. She was born in Richmond on February 22, 1924, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1941. During World War II she was employed at the Defense General Supply Center, and later was a legal secretary at several Richmond law firms before moving to Westvaco Corporation, where she retired after thirty years as a payroll supervisor. She was a member of Westover Hills United Methodist Church and the James River Women’s Club, and was for many years a volunteer at Chippenham Hospital. She loved the beach, her grandchildren, dolls and good seafood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edgar Bailey and Esther Dixon Bailey, and by her brother, Robert W. Bailey, Sr. She is survived by her son, Edwin Gadberry III and his wife, Debra; her grandchildren, Justin, Alex and Kelly Gadberry, as well as Ashley Stavac (Todd), and Grayson Gorman (Katie), and Lexie Stavac, Kate and Seth Gorman. She is also survived by her aunt, Doris H. Dixon, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. We are especially grateful to our cousin, Julie Fischer, for her considerable help, love and support.
Visitation for friends will be at the Woody Funeral Home at 1020 Huguenot Road on September 9, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Funeral services will be at the Woody Funeral Home on September 10, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., with interment thereafter at Maury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Westover Hills United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
