Annette grew up St. Martinville and graduated class valedictorian from Mercy High School in 1964. She attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana where she graduated summa cum laude with a double major in mathematics and French in January 1968. She later did graduate work at Louisiana State University. Annette married Wayne, the love of her life, on February 3, 1968, and the newlyweds moved to New Orleans where she was a substitute teacher. In May of 1969, they moved to Baton Rouge. Annette was a devoted mother to her three children and maintained a spotless home. In 1977, she taught seventh and eighth grade math at St. Aloysius Catholic School. Annette later enjoyed substitute teaching and became a math teacher at Kenilworth Middle School in 1985. She was an active partitioner at St. Jude Catholic Church in Baton Rouge where she taught catechism, initiated and coordinated the summer Bible school program, and was the parish’s first female eucharistic minister. Annette was also a member of several women’s clubs and always served as room mother for her children’s classrooms. In July 1986, the family relocated to Richmond. Annette was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church and later St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. She was a eucharistic minister at both churches. Once her children graduated from high school, Annette became a long-term substitute teacher before joining the staff of St. Edward Epiphany School. She was an eighth-grade math and religion teacher at SEES for seventeen years where she touched many children’s lives and even inspired many students to love mathematics. After retirement, Annette and Wayne enjoyed traveling, volunteering, and especially spending time with their family.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Ginter Hall South for their compassionate care and support. They also wish to express their gratitude to the many friends who regularly visited Annette.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church on December 12, 2025, at noon, followed by interment in the memorial garden at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
