Barbara Fitch Bourne

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Roy and Lilton Fitch; husband, James Ervin Bourne; and brother, Charles Roy Fitch, Jr. She is survived by daughters, Carol B. Denson and her husband Thomas, and Deborah B. Downs and her husband Troy; sister, Frances F. Lumadue and her husband Loren Todd; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Fitch; grandchildren, Rachael D. Hutchinson and her husband Jordan, and Sarah C. Downs; and nieces Betsy F. Garner, Melanie L. Boyer, and Melissa L. Vetter and her husband Paul.

Barbara was a Christian who loved her Lord, her husband “Jimmy,” and her family. Barbara worked as a secretary at Equitable Life Insurance Company prior to starting her family. She was a skilled homemaker and cook, canning and freezing vegetables from the garden; a loving caregiver for her children and grandchildren, taking them to piano lessons, dance lessons, gymnastics, and a myriad of events at school and with friends; and an encourager and supporter of her children’s and grandchildren’s endeavors.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who find comfort in knowing she is with her Creator. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 29, from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA 23113. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 30, at 10:30 AM at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
