She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Margaret DeHaven, and her beloved younger brother and partner in crime, William “Billy” DeHaven.
Barbara (“Bobby”) is survived by her sister, Arlene “Lolly” Damron (Randy), and her brother, Thomas “Tommy” DeHaven; her son, Richard “Ricky” Doll, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Doll, who grew her family with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her grandchildren, Alyssa (SSG Russell), Lance (Nicole), Jackson, Mackenzie, and Luke; her great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Kailey, RJ, and Emory; her best friend of over 40 years and fellow pizza connoisseur, Joanne Thompson; and her beloved, well-fed feline companion, Tonto.
Bobby was born in Staten Island to Richard and Margaret and raised in a Catholic family of Italian descent. After high school, she joined the Air Force at 18 years old. She later joined her family in Richmond, VA, where she worked in administration for a number of years coordinating real estate closings. She then moved to West Palm Beach, FL, before eventually returning to Richmond to spend her golden years with her family following her retirement.
Bobby was an amazing artist who dabbled in many forms and was an award-winning painter. She loved to cook and try challenging new recipes for her family and friends; even in her spare time, she was constantly researching new dishes. She loved animals, especially her many dogs, and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
The family will hold a private celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SCRAP Creative Reuse in her honor to enable other artists in their journey.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Yuvraj Choudhary and Hillary Flaherty at the Virginia Cancer Institute for their years of compassionate care and support.
Barbara wanted to ensure love is sent to her family and many friends spanning from NY, her adventures in the USAF, FL, and VA.
