
Mr. Benjamin Lenoir White, 95 years, of Midlothian, VA went join his Lord and Savior on March 23, 2023.
Born June 29, 1927, in Glen Alpine, North Carolina, Ben was the son of S. Lenoir White and Nelle C. Long Hilton White. He grew up in Glen Alpine, one of 13 children, and lived there until he joined the US Military in 1945. He served in the navy as a pharmacist's mate in Portsmouth, VA near the end of WWII. Later he attended Officer Candidate School in Fort Sill, OK during the Korean war, receiving an honorable discharge for his service. He graduated with honors from Wake Forest College in 1949.
While working in finance at GMAC in Raleigh, Ben met and married his wife of 68 years, Kathryn Raye. They welcomed three children while living in Raleigh and then Cary, NC. The family moved to Virginia Beach in 1965, where Ben worked as Advertising Manager for The Virginian Pilot. In 1971 Ben and his family moved to Burke County, NC, where he worked for Burke County Public Schools and then served on the county school board. Ben was member of the Glen Alpine Baptist Church and loved living and working among many of his friends and family members in North Carolina.
In 1983, Ben and Kathryn moved to Lancaster, SC, where Ben worked as Lancaster county's Business Manager until he retired in 1992. He enjoyed playing golf, serving his church community at Covenant Baptist of Lancaster, and participating as a member of the Lancaster Republican Party. He strived to live his life based on principle, high integrity, and public service.
In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by siblings, most recently Joe C. White. Surviving are his wife, Kathryn White; daughter Carol White (Glenn New); daughter Dana White; son Joseph White (Heidi); brother Steve White; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
