Nécrologie de Carolyn Adams Sprinkle
Carolyn Adams Sprinkle "lyn" passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shields Sprinkle, Ill "Bob" and her parents, Washington Irving Lincoln Adams, Jr and Grace Carolyn Farmer. She is survived by her brother William Briggs Adams (Susan) of Boston MA, her three children, Beth Sprinkle (Jay Lowe), Kathy Turner, Stuart Sprinkle (Kim), grandchildren, Jack Hawkins, Cody Sprinkle, Austin Sprinkle, and Tyler and Zach Paquette, all of Richmond; nieces, Carolyn Lowell (Chris) of Boston, MA, Sarah Sprinkle (Alex) of Carrollton, TX, Amy Tolbert (Mike) of Canton, Georgia, nephews David Adams (Dara) of Chicago, IL, Luke Sprinkle (Lisa) of Fayetteville NC, and Chris Bernier of Waynesboro VA, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Lyn and her true love, Bob, were married in Montclair, New Jersey and moved to Richmond for Bob’s job. Lyn worked briefly for the Virginia Department of Health and left to start a family. She was very involved in the community and was never bored. She was a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and her church family was very important to her for over 50 years. She was a past president of the Commonwealth Girl Scout Council and was a strong supporter of the girl scouts for a number of years. Lyn was an amazing cook and baker and dabbled in catering for a while because she enjoyed cooking for others. Her talents were many and she took up painting, crocheting, quilting, candle making, calligraphy, needle point, gardening, and ran in the first Richmond marathon in 1978. Lyn and Bob loved to travel and saw many amazing countries and had many very funny stories from their adventures. Lyn bought a condo in Florida after Bob's death and lived there for a number of years and was happy walking on the beach, collecting shells, looking for turtles as a member of the local turtle watch group, volunteering with the Anna Maria Island historical society and as a member of her condo association board. She expanded her church family by spending a lot of time at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. After Bob's death in 1999, Lyn continued to travel the world with friends to the places Bob thought were too far away, like Australia and New Zealand. After a serious illness while living in Florida, mom came back to Richmond to be closer to her children. She lived at Sunrise of Bon Air for almost 10 years and remained active for most of that time. She had the most amazing private sitters with her over those 10 years. Jackie, Yvette, Julie and Ami became members of the family and made her last few months so comfortable and happy. She always had a smile and an opinion, no matter what. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Ulcerative Colitis Foundation, the Liver Foundation, Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation, or a charity of your choosing. A service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bon Air, Virginia on June 1st at 11 am.
