Cecile Tyler Miller of North Chesterfield, VA died April 17, 2019 in Richmond after a long illness. She was 82. Mrs. Miller was born May 18, 1936 in Elizabethton, TN, the only child of the late Henry and Cecil Walters Tyler, and grew up in Knoxville where her father was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company of America. She was a graduate of West High School in Knoxville, TN, Carson-Newman College (Bachelor of Arts in Church Music) and did graduate study in rehabilitation counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. A homemaker and mother, Mrs. Miller was a private teacher of piano and voice and was employed as a church music minister in Wytheville and Lynchburg, Virginia. She also was an adjunct instructor in water gardening and ponding for Eastfield Community College in Mesquite, Texas, and proprietor of Serenity Water Gardening, also of Mesquite. In retirement Mrs. Miller became well known for effectiveness in ministries to the aged and sick and in personal evangelism. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, The Rev. Thomas Earl Miller Jr., of The Virginian, an independent living retirement facility in North Chesterfield, a son, Thomas E. Miller, III, and his wife, The Rev. Mary Day Miller of Boston, MA, and their daughters, Anna Marguerite Balfour (Edward) of Englewood, OH, and Grace Elizabeth Miller of Boston; also, a daughter, Marianne Miller Ringlesbach and her husband, John S. Ringlesbach of Richmond, and their daughter, Tiffany Anne Mitchell and her husband, Jacob, of Mechanicsville, VA. She is also survived by her great-grandsons, Jonathan Ray Tucker, son of Tiffany Anne and son of Jeremy Ray Tucker of Mechanicsville, VA; and Damen Allen Mitchell of Mechanicsville. Also, a great-granddaughter, Alexis Mari Mitchell of Mechanicsville. Also, a step great-grandson, Jackson Alexander Saunders of Waynesville, NC. She is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of life will be held Monday, April 22 at Huguenot Road Baptist Church, 10525 W. Huguenot Road in North Chesterfield at 11 AM. A reception for the congregation will follow. Burial will be at Hermitage Baptist Church Cemetery, U.S. Highway 17 at Church View, VA in Middlesex County, at 3:30 PM on April 22nd. The family wishes to express appreciation to the skilled and compassionate staff of the James River Hospice, the employees of the memory care unit at Elmcroft of Chesterfield, also the skilled nursing staff of BonView Rehabilitation and Healthcare, as well as the wonderful nurses and associated employees of Chippenham and Johnston-Willis Hospitals. The family will receive friends at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, on Sunday, April 21 from 5-8 PM.
