

Charles Ray "Chuck" Rhodes of Richmond, VA was redeemed by his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on April 7th, 2014. Chuck was born in Champlain, IL on July 17th, 1945 as the eldest child of Benjamin and Eloise Rhodes. Shortly after his birth, Chuck and his family moved to Winchester, VA where he lived until his graduation from John Handley High School in 1964. A lifelong Hokie, Chuck graduated from Virginia Tech in 1969 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Management. Directly after graduating, Chuck proudly served his country in the US Army Reserves until 1975.
In April of 1970, Chuck began a 30 year career with Dominion Virginia Power. Beginning in the Marketing Department in Norfolk, VA he then worked in a variety of roles throughout his career and most notably as a Contract Specialist in Joint Use where he consulted with various utility companies across the country. Chuck continued to work as an independent consultant for several years after his retirement.
Chuck was an avid carpenter, enjoyed working in his yard, and took great pleasure in witnessing the beauty of all God's creation, especially the flowers, birds and blue skies. In retirement Chuck served his community as an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 10 years and delivered and provided meals for Friends of the Homeless. Chuck was blessed to be a member of the Bon Air Baptist Church family.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 41 years, Susan Critcher Rhodes of Richmond, VA, his sister Becky Myers of Rio Rica, AZ, and his nephew Stuart Nixdorf of Weston, MA. He is pre-deceased by his parents and his sister Elaine Nixdorf Wymer of Strasburg, VA.
Services will be held at 1pm, on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian, Va., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at 1pm, Saturday, April 12, at Hodges Chapel Church, Cemetery, Benson, N.C.
Mrs. Rhodes sincerely appreciates the love and support of family, friends, neighbors and caregivers shown to both she and Chuck. God Bless you all.
