

WHORLEY, Dora Belle Hughes, 80, of Richmond, died November 16, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. “Bob” Whorley. Survivors include two children, Robin Whorley and his wife, Nancy and Rebecca Hatton and her husband, Mike; one brother, Harry Hughes; three sisters, Pauline Hill, Ruth Hughes and Ida Kirstein; three grandchildren, Regina Whorley Lukens and her husband Randy, Sara Whorley and Ellie Hatton; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Joelle Lukens. Dora enjoyed spending time gardening, reading, crocheting, cooking and baking. She has known the Lord since the age of 14 and served others via Christian fellowship. Being generous with her time, she was previously active with her husband at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church. Dora was a member of the flower guild and taught women’s Bible studies. Simply stated, she was a true inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing her. Dora was a faithful member of Kenwood United Methodist Church in Ashland, Va. for many years. She dearly loved her church family and her Sunday School class. Her remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, where the family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and where funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Kenwood United Methodist Church Music Ministry or the American Diabetes Association.
