Edward was a dedicated father and wonderful grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed a 27-year career with the State Corporation Commission, working until his passing. Ed devoted his free time to performing acts of love not only for his family but for friends, neighbors, and coworkers. He will be remembered by his family not only for his wonderful sense of humor but also for the many extensive vacations he planned and coordinated (most of them included California), the youth sports he attended as either a coach or a spectator, teaching his kids and grandkids how to ride a bike or drive a manual transmission, picking up bagels or doughnuts for people just because they might enjoy them, loaning out his brand new car for travel soccer games to ensure a safe trip, and bringing his family together for holidays. He was also an avid lover of yard sales and watching old westerns, baseball (preferably the Dodgers), history or nature documentaries, and napping in his recliner. Ed was an accomplished member of the East Carolina University track team from 1964-69.
His remains rest at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Rd where the family will receive family and friends Friday, July 11, 4pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Medical Center Care Fund.
