

Della Ercelle Jones Morris was born September 6, 1921 and bowed out gracefully on August 7, 2021, one month shy of her 100th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband, Rodney F. Morris; her son, Rodney F Morris, Jr.; and her brother Virgil Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra M. Klemmer; her sister, Letty J. Beament and she was “Anny”(grandmother) to 4 grandchildren (Richard, Anna, Ellen and Laura) and 8 great grandchildren (Carson, Haley, Nathan, Josie, Emily, Della, Margot and River). She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Ercelle was reared in Amelia, Virginia and graduated from Amelia High School. She then attended Smithdale Massey Business School. During World War II, she worked in jobs supporting the war effort.
In 1946, she married Rodney Morris to whom she was married for 63 years. She continued her career as a secretary working for FDIC from which she retired. Besides her family, she had a love for bridge and scrabble. AND after retirement , she enjoyed playing golf at Salisbury Country Club.
Ercelle was a beloved matriarch to both the Morris and Jones families. All who encountered her were inspired by her love and she always had time for her “sugars”.
A service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 14th at Epworth Methodist Church, 5941 South Giles Road, Amelia, VA with reception following.
