Eric A. Janes

JANES, Eric Arthur, 66, of Chesterfield, departed this life on February 22, 2011. He was predeceased by his mother, Irene Janes; his paternal grandparents, Eli and Lillian Janes; his maternal grandparents, Norman and Ethel Noel; his grandson, Eric Joshua Cauthorne; his brother, Allen Janes; his sister, Linda Janes; and his nephew, Bobby. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Lisa" Janes; his son, Mark Janes (Gabriela); his daughter, Ingrid Cauthorne (Michael); his four beautiful grandchildren, Hanna, Jasmine, Caleb and Maya; his sister, Beverley (David) Parsons; his brother, Robert Janes; and his half-brothers, Donald (Olive) Gough and Patrick Bruce. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of his wife's family, who were like siblings to Eric; numerous nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.

Eric was born in Newfoundland, Canada. He was a member of the Canadian Air Force and received a Bachelor of Education degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He moved to Toronto in 1969 and began a career as an agent in the life insurance industry. He transferred with his company to Richmond in 1980 and has been successfully self-employed as an insurance and financial advisor for the past 30 years. Eric's most cherished pastime was coaching youth soccer. He also enjoyed playing and refereeing soccer, as well as playing Bridge, poker and other card games with his friends. He was blessed to have a number of close friends who were there for him during his illness.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 24, and Friday, February 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Va. 23113, 804-794-1000. A funeral service will be held at Woody Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 26. Interment private.
