Evelyn Hubbard Osbourne

Evelyn Hubbard Osbourne passed away Saturday, April 18th, following a brief illness. She is survived by her beloved son, Kenneth G. Osbourne, of Chesterfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Osbourne, and her siblings: Franklin Hubbard, Thelma Hubbard Satterwhite, Curtis Hubbard, and Carroll Hubbard.

Evelyn was born in 1930 and grew up on the Powhatan State Correctional Farm, as her father worked there. Her sister collected her the day after high school graduation and brought her to Richmond. She had many happy memories of living in the city, walking to dances with her siblings, going shopping, and walking to get ice cream. She also met her future husband there.

She started work at the VA Hospital and then moved on to work at Coca-Cola. Later, she settled in at Hyman Brothers Pontiac for over 30 years as a bookkeeper, and eventually, office manager.

Evelyn loved nature, and particularly, animals. She loved fishing with her husband and son- and was proud of her citation largemouth bass. They would spend hours driving through the country looking for deer and other animals. In later years, she enjoyed sightings of deer, foxes, and birds in her yard. She especially loved her mini poodles and loved to reminisce about them. She was a lifelong contributor to the ASPCA.

Her faith was an important part of her life and she was a member of the Patterson Ave. Baptist Church until it’s closure.

In the more recent past, Evelyn enjoyed using her laptop to work jigsaw puzzles, search YouTube for Tuba Skinny and other music videos, and watch webcams of deer. She also loved to color and read Nora Roberts. She did not like to be idle.

Evelyn always had a positive attitude and loved to share stories with friends. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Evelyn be made to the ASPCA.

A Visitation will be held at Woody Funeral Home at Huguenot, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, VA 23113, on Wednesday the 29th at 4pm.
