FRENCH, Everett Monroe Jr., passed quietly from this life on the morning of August 20, 2018. Also known as "Eddie," he was born to Everett Monroe French Sr. and Willie Carroll on September 16, 1933. Born in Bedford County, Virginia, he was the older brother to James Milton (deceased) and Phillip Hunter.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and a long-time employee of the R.F. & P. Railroad. Proudly, he was a member of the Manchester Masonic Lodge. Married to Mary Ingram, his wife of 61 years, they raised three sons, Everett III (Molly), Bryan Scott (Kim) and Patrick Ingram (Beverly). He found true joy in his "boys" and grandchildren. He so enjoyed his grandchildren, Austin, Evan, Kirstie, Carter, Payton and the youngest, Josh. Watching these children participate in sports and achieve their academic accomplishments brought joy to his later years.
Thanks for being the mentor and grandfather you were. Eddie and Mary spent their days at Fox Field, his beloved farm, located in Montpelier, Virginia. There he enjoyed raising fruit trees, gardening and the serenity offered by such a place. He was an avid outdoorsman, passing on this joy to his sons and grandchildren. He was liked and befriended anywhere he went. His passing will leave a void in the hearts of all that knew him.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the caregivers at Spring Arbor of Salisbury, who made his life comfortable in his last years. To his very special friend and caregiver, William Shelton, we express our deepest thanks. You will always be a part of our family.
A celebration of Eddie's life will be held Thursday, August 23 at 4 p.m., with family visitation starting at 2 p.m., Woody's Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road Chapel.
