He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Pamela Steele Larimer, his sister, Carol Clark and family from Shippenville, PA, and sister-in-law Terri Keister in Clarion, PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews scattered across the country. Gary lost his beloved wife, Ronda Staunton Larimer, after 40 years of marriage. They were faithful members of Bon Air Baptist Church where they led a divorce support group.
Preceding in death as well were his father Gerald Larimer, mother Goldie Keister, and brother Darl Keister. With his marriage to Pam, Gary was fortunate to become part of a large and happy family adding many new step-children and grandchildren. He was especially close to Owen, Lauren, Alena, Arya, and Logan. He always said he was not fond of dogs but became completely smitten with his faithful companion Pookie.
Gary was a proud Air Force veteran. He had worked as a Mortgage Appraiser for many years before retiring. Gary had seen an article in the newspaper about A Place of Miracles Cafe and he immediately began gifting to this organization. He was impressed by their work to feed and perform outreach to homeless families living in motels on Richmond Highway. Pam was a faithful volunteer there and the director Melissa Morgan introduced Gary and Pam. The two discovered that they had a lot in common, fell in love and were married the next Thanksgiving Day. Gary had his last Thanksgiving on Sunday November 23, 2025 with his newly extended family and friends. Gary loved to talk about current events. He loved music and learned how to request oldies and Elvis on Alexa. He knew the words to all the oldies and every hymn you could think of.
A funeral service will be held on December 9th at 2 pm at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia Courthouse, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made A Place of Miracles Cafe.
A special thanks to Claire Steele Hammer and Terri Keister for their love, guidance and help during this difficult time
