George Michael Northey

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Julia Northey; his siblings, Sandra, Linda and Robbie.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Northey; his sons, Michael Brewer and Dion Brewer (Romy); his daughters, Angie Whitescarver (Will) and Michelle Nelson (Jay); grandchildren, Jennifer Croley (Bryan), Matt Whitescarver (Jeniffer), Harrison Brewer, Maggie Brewer (Ross), Taylor Whitescarver (Newman), Carter Nelson and Caroline Nelson; 4 great grandchildren; a special niece, Kimberly Jenkins (Chuck); and a host of other family members.

He was born in Burlington, NC. In 1969 he moved to Richmond, where he started his own paint contracting business. He was very active in the community, serving on the board for Saints and Sinners, Optimist International and Painting Decorating Contractors of America for many years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, he loved playing cards, and enjoyed spending time with his family at their second home in Myrtle Beach. He loved his many friends and will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23, from 4-7pm at Woody Funeral Home - Huguenot Chapel. A funeral will be held at noon on Friday, January 24 in the Woody Chapel. Interment will be private at Dale Memorial Park.
