

Gloria Stumm, 79, loving wife and mother, of Richmond, Va., died August 9, 2013 at her home after a short battle with cancer. She was born on February 9, 1934, in Aurora, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Louise Stumm and is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas A. Stumm; daughters, Kathryn Anne Stumm, and Sharon Stumm Maddux and son Thomas W. Stumm; also 4 grandchildren, Jessica Maddux, Rebecca Maddux, Caitlin Blackburn and Zachary Blackburn.
Her career spanned 20 years for the Fairfax County School System in which she was a classroom teacher, teacher performance consulting teacher, and a reading specialist. Her volunteer hours were spent serving on boards and committees which helped the brain injured community.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Dr., Richmond, Va. A reception will follow immediately at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be sent to Community Brain Injury Services, 7812 Shrader Rd., Richmond Va. 23294.
