Dear Stumm family,

Gloria and Tom were both such fantastic advocates for the brain injury community both here in Richmond and elsewhere.  While I had the privilege to work with both Tom and Gloria on advocating for services and funding for our programs over the past several years, I also got to know many members of there wonderful family.  Gloria and Tom together created such a fantastic, supportive, and so obviously loving family and that it how I will most remember Gloria.  My heartfelt condolences to the entire family and to the many others who were touched by Gloria during her amazing life.

I am Gloria's second cousin--daughter of Floyd Phillips. I remember her fondly, although we last saw each other at Nancy Heiman Andrew's wedding in 1981. When I was four and she was eight, my mother borrowed her beautiful, blue dress for me to wear in a studio photo. Of course, it was too big, but not for a head shot. I love the collection of photos. Dear Tom, no words can express how very sorry we feel for you, at the loss of the love of your life.  The love that you and Gloria shared was very obvious.   In the way you each looked at the other, the way you spoke to each other and the respect  you each had for the other.  You had a true love story relationship for  60 years.  We never saw Gloria when she wasn't happy and smiling.  What a sweetheart she was to all of us.
Thanks for sharing her journey through life in the photos.  You could tell how much you loved each other, by the "look" in both your eyes. What a wonderful life together you shared as a family.
Praying that all your great memories together will somehow help with the pain of the loss, of the one you so dearly loved and even though we can't be with you all tomorrow in person, we will surely be there in spirit.

Dear Members of the Stumm Family - In addition to Gloria who I came to know through meetings of the Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation, I have admired and been encouraged by her loving husband and your family as a whole. Although we've never met, I wanted to send you my sincerest condolences.  Kathy and I have been friends for over twenty-five years.  We've shared all sorts of lifetime experiences that happened during that time.  After reading Gloria's eulogy, I can see that her legacy lives on in Kathy.  Kathy's kindness, empathy, determined will and devotion to her family are only a few of the lessons Kathy learned from you and Gloria.  May the strength that your wife instilled in your family help each of you in the coming days.

What a special lady Aunt Gloria was! She truly was the sweetest woman I've ever known. I always looked forward to seeing her- and you Uncle Tom! I was so sorry to hear of Gloria's illness and her passing. She had a very gracious way of connecting to people - even those of us who were only acquaintances (like me). Her love and committment to her family was evident in many ways. I wish you all peace.

I would like to take the time to say. For the short time I've known the family my heart goes out to each one of you. I really did enjoy working with Mr.& Mrs Stumm. Being there for you all. Was a blessing. Kathy & Sharry. I will always remember you ladies.

The photo gallery is so beautiful.  It reflects how much Aunt Gloria enjoyed her life and lived every minute to the fullest. The photo book posted is really amazing, to see a life full of so many memories over the years from the early days in Aurora through youth, her career, the growth of her family and her last days. I'm honored to be part of those memories. My prayers and condolences from Saint Martin's Abbey  especially to Tom, their children and grandchildren.

I suppose that it is a little unusual for me to be writing in your guest book, but it is just another way for me to tell you how much I love you.  I miss you so terribly, and you have left such a huge void in my life.  Words cannot begin to describe what you have meant to me during our lives together. I am lost without you. It always fascinated me that we could sit for hours in our favorite chairs, reading or watching TV, not saying a word, but reveling in the mental telepathy that communicated our love without the spoken word.
