Goodman Woodbury Mawyer Jr.

MAWYER, Jr., Goodman “Goody”, 82, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2017. Goody was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired warehouse manager. Goody was preceded in death by the love of his life, Nan “Flossie” M. Mawyer. He is survived by his sister, Ruth M. Fitzgerald; his children, Faye Lewis(Dennis), Goodman “Billy” Mawyer, III(Mona), Vikki Kavanaugh(Pat), and Kevin Mawyer(Jacqui). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Goody was a beloved father, Papa, brother, uncle and a friend to many. He enjoyed driving 18-wheelers, riding his lawn mower, crossword puzzles and sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Redskins and loved the Washington Nationals. He loved his family most of all and will be dearly missed.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 6 from 5pm to 8pm at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian VA 23113. Services will be held at 11:30am, Wednesday, June 7 at Calvary Baptist Church, 10230 Hull Street Rd, Midlothian VA 23112. Interment will follow at 2pm at Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia with full military honors, 10300 Pridesville Rd, Amelia VA 23002.
