

Harold was born on August 6, 1934, in Monroe, North Carolina, to the late Torriston Oliver Lowery and Josephine Watts Lowery. One of nine children, Harold was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend.
He dedicated his life to his family, church, and community. A skilled craftsman and entrepreneur, Harold worked as a builder, real estate agent, and broker. Later in life, he became a master builder of custom homes. He and his beloved wife, Evelyn, were among thirteen charter families of Salisbury Presbyterian Church, where Harold helped design and build the church's first sanctuary.
Harold loved spending time outdoors and with those he loved. He especially enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, gardening, and gathering with family and friends.
On April 16, 1955, Harold married the love of his life, Evelyn Caroline Bowlin. They celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they made their home in Midlothian and later in Powhatan, Virginia.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Bowlin Lowery; their children, Melanie (David) Dalton, Vanessa (Mark) Jones, and Russell (Stephanie) Lowery; grandchildren, Candice (Jeff) Mrazik, Julie (Andrew) Elmore, Heather (Brandon) Newmyer, Connor and Colton Jones, and McKenzi (Trey) Watkins-Rowe; sisters, Catherine Guthre and Edna Sherrill; and many great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Torriston and Josephine Lowery; siblings Rebecca Hancock, William, Arnold, Horace, Caroline and Lawrence Lowery, and his beloved daughter, Nancy Lowery Siems.
A visitation, memorial service, and reception will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Woody Funeral Home – Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113. A graveside service will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Amelia Courthouse, Amelia, Virginia 23002.
Harold will be remembered for his faith, his craftsmanship, his devotion to family, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him.
