
Bradley, James Marshall Jr., passed away peacefully September 6, 2015 at the age of 69. Mr. Bradley was born in Fort Bragg N.C. on December 1, 1945, the son of the late Lt. Col. U.S.A. (Ret.) James Marshall Bradley and Imogen Warwick (Burrows) Bradley. Most of his youth was spent between Prince George, Petersburg and France where his father was stationed while in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Bradley enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his last year in college and after graduating from East Tennessee State University in 1969, he received his commission as a 2nd Lt. after completing O.C.S. Mr. Bradley spent three years on active duty including a tour in Vietnam as a rifle platoon commander with the 5th Marines. He was awarded the Bronze Star with combat “V” device, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon and Navy Unit Commendation. He later resigned his commission as a Captain.
In 1972, he joined the First & Merchants National Bank, which through mergers became Sovran Bank and later NationsBank (now Bank of America) where he spent most of his 23 year career as the marketing manager for the commercial banking division. Mr. Bradley was a graduate of the Virginia Bankers School and Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He retired in 1995 as a Vice President and spent several years as a banking consultant.
Mr. Bradley was a former member of the Salisbury Country Club, Chesterfield Jaycees, Brandermill Lions Club and attended Salisbury Presbyterian Church and Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. He is survived by his daughter, Sara Warwick Bradley Harney and her husband, Matthew Harney; granddaughter, Morgan O. Harney, grandson, Connor W. Harney; and a brother, W.M. Bradley.
There will be a memorial service at Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, on Wednesday September 9th, 2015 at 11:00am. Family will receive friends one hour before service.
