

Massey, James Cambron, 95, of Richmond, Virginia, died Thursday, September 3, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Frankie Henderson Massey, a daughter, Rebecca Massey Wills, and a son–in-law, Edwin B. Wills. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Stacy E. Smith, Martin C. Smith and his wife Lainie, James E. Wills, Richard H. Wills and his wife Gloriana, and Emily C. Wills. Jim is also survived by his sister, Dororthy M. Utleye and brother Joe Massey; nephews Mal Utleye, Jerry Massey, and niece Linda Massey Newhouse. He is survived by four great-grandchildren, and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Fred W. and Mary Cambron Massey. He is preceded in death by daughter Joy Massey Smith , son-in-law, Leo H. Smith, and an infant daughter, Margaret Ruth Massey. James served in the 80th Infantry Division in Patton’s 3rd Army of the United States as a chaplain’s assistant and was honorably discharged in December 1945. James served as the Director of Church/Minister Relations from 1972-1988. From 1952-1972, he served as the pastor of Wytheville Baptist Church. After seminary he served as chaplain at the Louisville City Jail.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bon Air Baptist Church Endowment Fund or Wytheville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Woody’s Funeral Home located at 1020 Huguenot Road Midlothian, VA . Interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Bon Air Baptist Church located at 2531 Buford Road Richmond, VA.
