

He is preceded in death by his parents James B. Rudd and Theresa M. Rudd.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Dorryce Ann P. Rudd, daughter Caroline R Davidson (Erik), and grandson James.
Jerry was a lifelong Chesterfield County resident. He served in the Marine Corp. He retired as a detective from Chesterfield County Police Department after twenty-nine years of service. After retirement, he taught Criminal Justice for Southside Community College. He was a lead docent at the Poe Museum and did background checks for the Virginia State Correctional System. A lifelong learner, Jerry graduated from the University of Richmond at age fifty-five.
Jerry loved history, and was a member of the Civil War Roundtable, and a founding member of the American Revolutionary War Roundtable of Richmond. He enjoyed volunteering at the Chesterfield Historical Society. He also enjoyed many lectures at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture where he was a member. Jerry was a long-time member at Bon Air Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday March 20th, and 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, March 21st at Woody’s Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at Woody’s Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel on Friday, March 21st at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Chesterfield Historical Society, and the Chesterfield County Police Foundation.
