After an extended illness and just shy of her 92nd birthday, Janet "Janie" Taylor passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Janie was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania to the late Roy S. and Ida Rose Imler. In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her husband Joseph H. Taylor, and is survived by her daughters Lisa Disney (Ross) and Susan Hamilton, and step children Ginny Taylor and Michael Taylor.
Following a career as an elementary school teacher in the Pine-Richland School District, Janie retired and moved to her beloved Amelia Island, where she enjoyed 24 years in the Florida sun. An avid reader who often couldn't remember were she had laid her glasses, Janie frequently needed to search for them before she could begin reading. She enjoyed needlepoint, traveling, cooking, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, and spending time with her daughters and dear friends.
A Memorial service will be held at Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 11am with a Visitation one hour prior. If unvaccinated, the family requests that face masks be worn at visitation and service.
A private internment will take place at a later date in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts are made to Crater Community Hospice, Northern Tier Library or a charity of your choice.
