Jerry graduated from Virginia Tech and worked as a landscape designer with Watkins Nurseries. He adored being Ella’s Papa and loved his family; spending time by his sister’s pool and his annual trips with extended family to the beach where JBo (Jerry) was known for a shenanigan or two. He was an outdoorsman at heart and loved animals, especially his Redbone Coonhound dogs, Rachel and Porter. Whether in the woods hunting, on the river fishing, walking the shore collecting sea glass or exploring Alaska, on a once in a lifetime adventure, he was happiest in nature. Jerry and Cindy enjoyed road trips together whether it was a day trip or a long weekend to a small town to find antique treasure or hear a local’s story. Many memories were made down by the river with friends during their annual trout fishing trips in the mountains of Virginia. Jerry will be remembered especially for his quirky ways, his easy chuckle and his good heart. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay www.allianceforthebay.org or Trout Unlimited https://www.tu.org/ or Virginia Society of Landscape Designers, www.vsld.org in which a link will be provided for Jerry and donations made will go to the VSLD scholarship fund. A celebration of life will be held on April 6, 2024, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the American Legion Post 354, 4800 Welby Turn, Midlothian, VA 23113.
