

Born on February 13, 1947, in Roanoke, Virginia, John lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep intelligence, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
John dedicated 40 years of his professional life as a computer programmer, where his creative mind and keen intellect made a lasting impact. Outside of work, he found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—traveling to Disney, cruising, and spending time near the water. He was a lifelong music lover, with a special fondness for the music of Billy Joel.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terry Campbell, who passed in 2022.
John is survived by his son, Jason Campbell, and Jason’s husband, Job Christenson; his sister, Barbara Goodall, and her husband, Lury Goodall; and their son, Lee Goodall, and his wife, Becca. He is also survived by his sister in law, Dreama Campbell, and his nieces, Deidre Campbell, Sarah Wimmer, and Allyson Schwab.
John will be remembered as a modest man who led with thoughtfulness, valued family deeply, and always approached life with curiosity and creativity.
A graveside service will be held in his honor at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Roanoke, Virginia.
