Bryan, Laura “Lona”, 85, of Glen Allen Virginia, was welcomed home by our Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2014. A dedicated Christian who modeled her life after the teachings of Jesus Christ, she was a member of Derbyshire Baptist Church. Throughout her adult life she served the Lord in many churches while living in North Carolina, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. She served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and used her love of flower arranging for Worship service flower arrangements. Lona introduced many to the love of Christ beginning with those in her own home as she and her husband, Robert “Bob” Bryan, Sr., who preceded her home in 2009, helped lead their daughter, Shirley Frazier and son Robert “Bob” Bryan, Jr., to accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior at an early age. They, along with Lona and Bob, introduced Jesus’ saving grace to their grandchildren, Michael Frazier, Katelyn “Katie” Graham, and Mason Bryan; and with their great-grandchildren, Luke Frazier, Rebekah Frazier, and in the last two years of her life with us, Lona sang Christian children’s songs to her 2 year old great-granddaughter Caydence “Cay” Graham. Lona showed her love for our country by becoming a Daughter of the American Revolution, a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. Professionally Lona worked in the banking industry for several banks and in several positions retiring from Pioneer Federal Savings and Loan in 1994. While her going home will leave a void in all of the lives she touched, we want to celebrate her life with us and rejoice in her new life with Christ, at Derbyshire Baptist Church Thursday afternoon, September 25, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. The Bryan and Frazier family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations should be given to continue God’s ministries through either: Derbyshire Baptist Church, 8800 Derbyshire Rd., Richmond, VA 23229, Staples Mill Road Baptist Church, 10101 Staples Mill Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23060, or to Winfree Memorial Baptist Church, 13617 Midlothian Tpke., Midlothian, VA 23113. Please include Lona Bryan’s name on your memorial contribution. If you are looking for a church home Lona’s family hopes that you consider one of these churches who have faithfully supported us as an extended family of believers teaching and practicing God’s word.
