Linda Jean Hanna passed away peacefully on May 16, 2022. She was a kind, generous and loving person who loved her little beagle, Beebe and the many children that surrounded her though she was blessed with none of her own. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Raymond Hanna, who she was so proud to call dad. She is survived by her husband, Charles William Strong, Jr. and her mother, Harriett Elizabeth Hanna, as well as a brother, William R. Hanna (Dotty); sister Jill Elizabeth Becker (Kurt); a niece, Wendy Hanna Schenker; and a nephew, Michael Becker; as well as seven step-children and 8 step-grandchildren to mourn her passing. Linda was born in Pittsfield, MA on April 5, 1947 to C. Ray Hanna and Harriett E. (Drane) Hanna. She graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in upper New York and moved to Virginia where she graduated from Mary Washington College in 1969. She pursued a career in Logistics with the Defense Department’s US Army Materiel Command and Defense Logistics Agency. After retiring from Civil Service in 1997, Linda moved to Moline, IL where she performed volunteer work with the American Cancer Society and a local Public Broadcasting Network. After moving to Georgia, Linda became a Master Gardener in Forsyth County and continued her love of gardening the rest of her life. She loved to read and belonged to book clubs as well as being bunko player with the neighborhood friends. Linda will be cremated and her remains will be placed next to her father’s in Sarasota, FL. There will be no memorial in Virginia, but her husband has requested that all who knew her share fond memories and be kind to one another in her honor.
